The Absolute Best Marketing for Your Business

Gym-Post

For the past year and a half I've dedicated myself to exercising regularly. The hardest part was just getting started and forming a routine. I hated it and truthfully kinda still do. But when I decide to do something I go "all in" and become obsessed with how to do it better and most effectively achieve results. I started reading exercise articles, trying new workout routines, and modifying my diet based on the latest research. I tried this and I tried that and then I tried it again.

The results were mediocre at best and I was growing frustrated with my lack of progress. I began to loathe my exercise regimen but I pushed on trying to work out every second day despite being the type of person who hates routines. Eventually I started ignoring the exercise articles, work-out routines, and diets to simply focus on the exercises I actually enjoyed or at least tolerated.

Guess what happened when I focussed on exercises I didn't mind doing? I started seeing results because I was actually doing them and began trying to do more of them. I ended up settling on a workout that included a mix of jogging and full-body calisthetics. No fancy routines or equipment or diets, just basic exercises that were convenient to do and required little equipment.

Now, I know you're not reading this to find out how I exercise and you're probably starting to think this post is a humble brag about my newfound fitness, but I assure you this relates to marketing your business.

I've come to realize that the fitness industry is much like the marketing industry - With fitness there's always a new exercise/workout/diet to try and in Marketing there's always a new tool/network/advertising to try. In both, people bounce around trying one for a while and then another and then another until most become frustrated and exclaim it's all bullshit and hardly worth the effort. The problem is that if you're always bouncing around you're never really moving forward.

You don't need to try everything new; you just need to do what works and is something you'll actually want to do. There is no magical exercise that will transform you with minimal effort and in Marketing there is no silver bullet that will generate revenues overnight. Both are long-term initiatives and if you're going to stick it out then you'll likely want to do things you enjoy.

In the end the best kind of exercise a person can do is the kind they'll actually do. And the same can be said for your Marketing - Find what works and work on that.
